Hello my darlings!
So, today is the beginning of the latest fun "round robin" of blogging; "Pin-it-forward" conceived & organized by Victoria with the awesome folks over at Pinterest. The theme this time around is: "What home means to you." So, I am so happy & excited to share what home means to me today! To find links for all of the images I used here today head on over to my pin-it-forward board on Pinterest right here. .The most important thing in my home is my family, my two little girls & my husband. Our friends & family that visit & our two dogs. Without them, it doesn't matter what I put in our home or what I put on the walls. They guide my decisions & my desire to create a beautiful home. I am sure it isn't for everyone but, my home makes me happy. I find myself often trying to create moods & little scenarios in my home, that will evoke imagination & hope in the viewer. Whether it is a beautiful piece of soft sculpture hanging from the ceiling, art that I think is calming, lovely and serene or something gorgeous on the floor...if it inspires me it is in!
As much as I admire homes that have white walls and a clean aesthetic...my heart beats to color. :) Different colors make me happy. Blue, pink, green, grey, yellow... Animal images always draw me in & I can't resist them.
I crave comfort & often think about how my visitors will feel sitting in that chair...or using that cup or sleeping in that bed. Does it make them want to linger? Are they comfortable? Relaxed? Is it soft, warm & reassuring? I figure if a friend's stay here is restorative? All the better...Or if my girls are scared and see "Everything is going to be ok" and then feel a bit better? Awesome.
My girls....I love them more than anything in this world. I figure if we build them up as much as we can at home through our love & positive messages...the world won't be able to knock them down quite as easily.
I will always be happiest, on a swing, on a front porch and my dream came true when we moved into our new house a year ago and gained a front porch. I love being outdoors, feeling a cool breeze, watching the world go by. And I love to try to bring some of that peace and calm inside our home too.
I like for there to be little surprises wherever you look or inspiring things to see around every corner. I try to achieve that without overcrowding or cluttering out house. And whether it is a unique light, a beautiful plate, gorgeous rug or the perfect sink. I love taking it slow and making our home a place we adore coming home to.
I hope you enjoyed hearing about what home means to me & thank you for coming by. Tomorrow the lovely Going home to Roost will be next in line sharing what home means to her. Don't miss it plus, the other 9 ladies who are helping start off Pin-it-forward today: Victoria, Nicole , Erin , Jodi , Sara, Lori , Joy , Christine , & Hijiri . Have a wonderful day my friends and I will see you back here tomorrow for a new cheap & chic. Until then....be well.
