Closer to home ( & little things)

Hello my darlins, 

                   Sorry about no post yesterday....I hate to break promises. But, my eldest gal left for sleepaway camp yesterday morning and I was in a bit of a funk for the rest of the day. Missing her but, knowing she is going to have an AMAZING time. So, I thought I would try to make it up to you today...with a two-parter. A little things post & something closer to home. 

3 little things: 

~ to say that I am in love with this top is an understatement here

~ maybe it is because I love wolves, or this wolf reminds me of our dog; Maddie or maybe just because it is beautiful...   here

~ awesome bracelet here ( thank you darling Traci)  

3 little moments: 

~ my wonderful hubby's movie got accepted into a film festival & I am so very proud of him. Now? Let's keep our fingers crossed for a distributor! Ok? Will you cross your fingers & toes with me? 

~ my littlest one doing her very best to swim at the pool today ( she is so adorable & funny) 

~ finishing painting the $50.00 table I scored last weekend. ( more on that down below) 

Closer to home: 

So, my sweet friend Marichelle knew I had been wanting & searching for the perfect round dining room table ( one I could afford, mind you) She spotted one at a yard sale last week, texted me and it turned out to belong to my friend Heather....who gave it to me for $50.00! Did you follow all that? :) Score, right? ( thank you Marichelle & thank you Heather!) 

My lovely brother in law helped me get it inside, our awesome handyman helped me make sure top was screwed into bottom and all was secure. Then it was up to me to rehab it a bit. So, of course I turned to the fantastic B &A's on Design Sponge by that peach of a lady; Barb. I followed her whitewash tutorial to the letter and the end result makes me so very happy! ( she is a sweetheart, that Barb & knows how to write a tutorial!) 

So, here is a little before & after for you.....hope you like it! 

Yay! The pictures don't quite do it justice. It is even lovelier in person. You will just have to trust me, ok? :) I hope you have a fantastic weekend, my friends! Have anything fun planned? My littlest one and I are headed over to a good friend's for a gathering tonight and eagerly awaiting the return of my best friend & her daddy. :) But, just before you go....

Cheap & Chic

Hello my friends, 

                     Lots of rain has cooled things down over here, how about where you are? Though it's been hot, it didn't stop me from pulling together an outfit that is probably best for a balmier evening. But, those shoes got to me....they did. It's funny...I am not someone who goes ga-ga over leopard print very often. But, last year I ended up getting a leopard winter coat ( it is so snuggly and soft) and now...these shoes are calling my name. :)

                    Did you have a lovely weekend my sweets? I surely hope so....we had a fun time at our friends lake house and took the little ones out to lunch and a movie with their cousin. How about you? Any fun times to report? Over the weekend I saw this beautiful original down below; I am drawn to paintings on wood, especially when the grain of the wood shows through. The texture adds so much to the depth of the piece. The soft colors and the florals at the top.....all make me so happy( despite a few tiny ghosts above and crocodiles down below!) :)

Closer to home

Hello my friends....

                        Well, it is hot as hades here ( as my mom would say) and my house is a mess. I feel guilty about turning the ac on at 9 am this morning but, I am not sure our fans are up to the heat.  My little ones are asleep still...they have been keeping late hours for the summer. I am thinking about how much I am going to miss my eldest gal, as she leaves for sleep away camp next week. I think the most I have ever been away from her is 4 days. Even our Maddie, our big doggie, doesn't want to stay outside, it is so hot. That tells you how hot it is 'cause usually we have to beg her to come in. :)

I may have posted this pic before ( in fact I am sure I have) but, it is my favorite place to be, in the world. And I wish we were there ,right now. A good book in hand....and tall glass of something yummy to drink beside me and my girls having a good time in the water. It is in the florida Keys, if you didn't already know, and that is where I spent half my time growing up. Hence, my love of the ocean....but, particularly the part of the ocean that is in that photo. 

I hope whatever you are doing this weekend that you have a wonderful one. We will be over at friends for dinner, up at the lake( seeing old friends we only get to see once or twice a year as they live in Germany now) and at the pool. I will see you back here on monday....but, just before you go.

Hello my darlins! 

                         Whoa, it is hot here in the east coast! How about where you are? We will be at the pool today, no question. I hope there is a body of water near you, today. Go jump IN it! :) I finally pulled the trigger on a new bathing suit ( you'll see it down below & yes, it is slightly mismatched but, I kind of like it that way)

~ how adorable is this "dollhouse turned shelf" idea?! I am so doing this with a vintage metal dollhouse we have. It will be perfect for my little one's room.....she needs lots and lots of shelves for her collections! Andrea has a great figure, pretty curly hair and a lovely tan. Cheap & Chic

Hello my dears! 

                         Since Joel and I spent our actual anniversary in the ER, we took last night to celebrate again. We went to the sweetest & loveliest french restaurant here. Le Fleur...the food was really good, the service was excellent and the atmosphere reminded me of our honeymoon ( which I always like being reminded of) :)  When I was thinking of an outfit for today, I came upon this shop and the necklace below grabbed my attention. Isn't it great looking?
