Hi my darlings!
I am so sorry I have been M.I.A. Last week, my girls were on spring break, it was my birthday and I am frantically trying to get all the components of my shop together so, I can open it soon! I should have visited to say what I was up to but, I never seemed to have a moment! At any rate, just popping in today to say "hello" and to let you know that I'll be back next week. Also, the main reason for my popping in today is to talk about my awesome husband and his show that is premiering on Netflix today!
I have mentioned it before, in the previous months. Today is the big day and I am so proud of him. It's called Hemlock Grove and I am so excited. I would love it if you want to watch but, be forewarned that it is of the horror/thriller genre.

Hi there!
So, we donated a lot of stuff from our attic and basement today. We still have junk guys coming to clear out the little bit left. But, once that is done, I can begin to get things whipped into shape in my work area down there. I have lots of ideas, of course, inexpensive ways to try to make it a little cosier, cuter and more inspiring. We'll see what I can accomplish. Of course I have a wishlist....and now, that I have thought about it a little more, I have new things to add and some I deleted. The main thing I would love to have, besides more tools is a swivel, rolling work chair. I'm always moving back and forth between tools and a chair like that would be golden. So, here are three little workshop related things that are making me happy today. Dreaming and wishing.
Little things:
~ There is an awesome chaise we have, that has been relegated to the basement for a bit. It's upholstery doesn't do it for me but, I have ideas about how to temporarily fix that. :) This lovely and inexpensive fabric from UO, would do the trick. Love.
~ Now, IKEA is making a very handsome grey alternative to the lovely aqua rolling piece they have. This one would be easier to incorporate into my space and would be so great for tools. here.
~ THE chair & luckily for me, this option is from Target and only $79.00. Top o' the wishlist for you, my dear. (and....since I wrote this post, I see the chair is gone. sigh....)
Little moments:
~ Having some friends say they want one of my pieces. That means a lot to me and though I am not quite ready to open up shop, I am doing some custom pieces for them.
~ My morning tradition with my eldest gal. Have breakfast, watch Monk. :)
~ Being so incredibly proud of my hubby and so happy for him & the "roll" he is on.

Happy weekend!
What are your plans for this weekend? Our littlest one's birthday party is this weekend and we have a little surprise planned for her. I also plan to be down in my workshop a lot, trying out some ideas I have. I thought I would share a little peek into what I have been doing in class & shop, would you like to see?
~ one of the first rings I made in my little home shop
~ My first cuff bracelet ( in the middle) *it isn't finished, I still need to do some sanding and polishing.
~ a ring I made the other day, the shield. I may make it a bit smaller ( for the ring) and keep the larger size for another idea.
At any rate, I have a lot of ideas and dreams. Sometimes my skill level doesn't quite match up to my ideas, yet. But, I am learning every day and I love it.

Hello, my friends!
You guys, I am the happiest gal on the block today! Why? Yesterday, my hubby gave me the go ahead to get some of the things I need to set up shop! A torch being the main thing and I am just crazy excited. I thought I would share with you what I have been doing in class lately, wanna see?
~ The small initial rings & the heart were an experiment. The pink sapphire ring was a stone I used in another design but, reset. * The ring on my middle finger is from lovely Fay Andrada, here.
I can't tell you how happy it makes me to be learning and creating. I hope I just get better and better. So interested to see where I am, a year from now.

Hello lovelies,
Sigh....my kitchen. There are many things I would change about my kitchen if I could. I have this dream of a big, bright, warm & cosy kitchen for us all to hang out in. That is not to say that we haven't had a lot of lovely moments in our current kitchen. We've made many a meal in there, Thanksgiving meals, Christmas meals. My girls sit in there and chat with me, I make tea in there every 5 seconds. :) But, I feel like it is the one room in my house that is only partially me, though I have tried to work with what I've got. It is a good little kitchen, don't get me wrong. ( photo by Marichelle)
See? Still filled with love, but......if I had my druthers (and *ahem* a couple of thous lying around!) I would do this:
~ open up our back staircase, like this, remove some cabinets and put in a sweet eat in spot, like this one. source: here
~ put a window in above our sink ( or move our sink) so there was a view of the backyard. Source: here
~ speaking of sinks, I would have one like this & a brass faucet for sparkle. :) Source 1: and Source 2:
~ I'd paint the walls a warm white, use this wallpaper that I adore & tiles like these. Source 1: and Source 2:

~ and our mudroom would be big enough to store everyone's things and make getting in and out of the house a bit easier. Source: here

I think sometimes we all put limitations on ourselves. Based on our age, our circumstances, our past, our looks, our satus....etc. But, something I have learned along the way is, it can all turn on a dime. Sometimes, that isn't what you want to hear because things are going well. But, sometimes that is exactly what you want to hear because you are hoping things will be better. They always can be. Any second.

Hello sweethearts!
This is a little story about an original piece of art. This time last year, I went to Alt. Summit and one of the highlights of my trip, were the folks I met there. One of those folks was a lovely gal named Courtney. Hilarious, fun and an artist. Watercolors are Courtney's specialty and she has a wonderful business of creating stationary and custom cards. But, Courtney had begun to miss making art, "just painting for the sake of bringing joy to people’s lives."
So , that is exactly what she has begun to do!

An idea was born and she began offering a way for everyone to own at least one piece of original artwork. I love this idea and love what Courntey has to say about it. Hello friends,
I will just leave you with this, for the weekend. I shared this quote with my eldest daughter, when she asked me about the tragedy in Conneticut. It is similar to what I have always told them about scary things: There are terrible things that happen in this world but, there are really beautiful things that happen too. They go hand in hand. So when things seem dark or you're afraid, remember the beautiful things.
