It's been too long. I am hoping today is the start of my getting back into the swing with posting regularly again. I guess we will see. Today is important & it's all about my friend, Susy. Back when we first met in 2006, Susy had her paper line called Susyjack. She was the first blogger friend I met in person; at ABC carpet in NYC & we had lunch. I liked Susy right away; she is genuine, funny, straightforward and humble. As an artist, she is incredibly talented, insightful, chic, ahead of the curve and supportive of other artists. Back then, I was just beginning blogging & didn't have a glimmer in my eye about going to back to school to learn metalsmithing. But, Susy was so encouraging and so warm. She made me feel like I could do whatever I set my mind to and she would be cheering you on from the sidelines.
So, today I want to cheer HER on from the sidelines. She is launching her new home & lifestyle collection today; Susan Connor NY & I can't shout it from the mountain tops loudly enough! Susy's new designs are absolutely gorgeous. Subtle, chic, gorgeous textures & patterns. Moody, earthy and rich. I, for one, can not WAIT to get my hands on some pieces. Hopefully!
I read something on Susy's blog recently, that really struck me. She was talking about being interested in the pursuit of beauty....
"I mean things that leave evidence. Things that tell a story. I am interested in more than just whether things look “right” or “cute” or “pretty”. I’m not interested in how things look. I’m interested in seeing. I’m passionate about looking deeper. It’s just the way I am."
I understand that, I have always felt that way as well. In my own work now, I try to do the same. Susy and I are both in pretty different places, than we were 8 years ago. We've grown and expanded. To me, we are on a similar course; going back to the beginning, learning anew and pursuing a deeper beauty.
I am so proud of you, my friend! Your pursuit of beauty has landed you smack dab in beauty's lap. Congratulations on your launch today & I can't wait to see.
